Left lane Lizym

Well, I arrived, tired but excited, from my 25+ hour fun flight. Just wished I could have slept a wee bit on the flight,..., would have made me more chipper upon my arrival. Nevertheless I'm happy to report I am officially and finally, in the land downUnder...!!
I'm currently in Melbourne. Its weather is similar to Michigan, except for no S=N=O=W. The down side is that I've arrived in winter time (having left a perfectly good spring in MI) so the gloves and scarf are in use. Here I'm spending 2 days catching up with some family, which is always a joy for me as in MI I have no extended family except for me mum & dad.
Episode 1: Week 1: I ventured out to the local shopping mall today, in my cousin’s manual Hyundai car. The houses are good size here, but the driveway could use a few feet addition. As I was backing up, I was looking to the back left, attempting to reverse out...what I hadn't consider was the front rite of the car. when I saw a clearing to my left on the street, my confidence increased and I gave it some gas. Unfortunately, my confidence was short lived when I heard this metal scraping noise and 'pop'. Seems I took off her front headlight. and I hadn't even left the driveway. From then on, I became 'grandma behind the wheel' driving just under the speed limit, keeping to the left, slow lane. might as well put a handicap sticker on the mirror, just for warning others..... (FYI: made it there and back just fine:-)
Now, my cousin Grace and I are taking a flight over the Adelaide for a week. Stay tuned for more adventures and bloopers!

Let the Adventure begin...

In a few days I board a plane to the wondrous, enigmatic, land down under. Where the Kangaroo roam, the accents abound and where my 2 month Aussie Adventure is set to begin.

Why did I pick Australia for my hiatus you ask? Well, a few reasons…
1. Its my favorite far away country (at one pt I wanted to move there)
2. I specialize in selling Australia and need to keep my knowledge first hand and current.
3. I have heaps of family scattered throughout the east coast.
4. Its safe, friendly and very welcoming. Which, for a solo female traveler like me, these reasons are paramount. (Did I mention every one has these fabulous accents?)

Perhaps its just me, but every few years, I feel the intense desire to leave everything/everyone I know and just be ‘somewhere’ else – to exchange the familiar for the unknown. Challenging myself to meet strangers, to learn to enjoy being by my myself, and just to discover the numerous sights and tastes that one encounters while traveling. I am both excited and anxious about this trip as there are so many things that could go wrong. But…. then I recognize that I am not truly alone and have my watchful Lord by my side, taking care of all my needs.

Welcome to my adventure......
